The benefits that green roofs offer have implications to building energy efficiency, local air quality, and urban heat envelope (the air mass that traps smog).

If businesses and residents in the city of Toronto adopt a green roof implementation plan we can have a substantial impact on cooling and air quality during summer months.

According to the City of Toronto web site Mayor David Miller says: "In addition to the direct benefits, green roofs are also about Toronto being a leader and an innovator. I would like Toronto to be a showcase for the world on green roof initiatives. I believe Torontonians embrace and desire these kinds of progressive policies, and we have a duty as a government to deliver on them."
